AN ILLUSTRATOR, GRAPHIC DESIGNER AND ALL ROUND LOVER OF THE OUTDOORS.
PaperJack Illustrates is an illustration and wall art studio based in the East Midlands and is run by myself - Chloe Jackson.
It initially started as a hobby towards the end of 2018 creating gifts for loved ones at Christmas. But since September 2019 I have been lucky enough to take what once was a dream into a full time job.
We offer a range of prints that have had an additional amount of love and care added to the creative process! You'll probably notice that we have a lot of pink prints. There are some inspirational, motivational, funny, cheeky and loving designs, all of which are sure to brighten your day!
I’ve worked in design (specifically fashion design) since leaving university with global businesses, well-known brands and exciting startups. But, Fashion Design was something that I started to fall out of love with.
On and off for the past few years I had been struggling with anxiety and panic attacks. I'm not quite sure exactly when it started but I was initially diagnosed with Social Anxiety back in 2018. I would very much struggle to go out in public and constantly analyse everybody's reactions towards myself. I was lucky enough to have CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) which was so hard at the time as it's all about putting yourself into the situations that make you uncomfortable, but then analysing the outcome afterwards. I was also struggling with my physical appearance and constantly felt like I was pulling myself apart. I had a series of hypnotherapy sessions in 2018 which I felt were very positive and beneficial towards my recovery. With the support of loved ones around me, around 8/10 months later I was feeling a lot more like myself again. Towards the start of 2019 I ended up having regular bad days again. I was really un happy with my job and every day became a struggle. I was about to swear off the industry, but then I started drawing in my spare time and everything changed from there.
There were days when I have felt lost, sad, lonely and confused. It's not been easy but by putting pen to paper and being able to unleash my creativeness I have truly learnt to be happy again. The work that you see is all created with my personal experiences in mind. I like to create things that are positive, and meaningful whether that be a positive quote on the wall or an illustration of a place that resembles happiness and love. You never know what people are going or have gone through so if I can at least make that one person smile then I'm happy.
By putting pen to paper and being able to unleash my creativeness I have truly learnt to be happy again.
1. WHERE DID YOU GROW UP?
I grew up in a little village in Leicestershire.
2. CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT?
I think I could live pretty basic if needed but I'd say good shampoo and conditioner and of course my other half Charlie!
3. FAV DUNKING BISCUIT?
Ok so you'll probably all gasp here but I don't dunk my biscuit into a drink, I dunk it into my yoghurt - digestives all the way!
4. RANDOM FACT
I have had about 14 different hair colours, ranging from red, purple, pink, peach etc!
5. WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME?
I like to spend time with family and friends. I love being out in the fresh air, usually walking or biking in the summer. I am also a scout leader so I spend time volunteering every week for the young people in the village.
6. FAV TRAVEL SPOT?
Argh, this one's pretty difficult. I feel like there is so much out there to still explore but currently top of my list has to be Khao Sok national park in Thailand.
7. WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST FEAR?
100% cows! Absolutely petrified of them. I once got chased by a herd of them.
You can not always be happy, but you can always be brave, and that is the beginning of everything.
from me to you
Stay strong, believe in yourself and never give up! You're never alone:)
